The Happy Childhood Bunch:
Trowa Achleraun – Wizard half-elf specializing in conjuration magic, recently (and by “recently” I mean like 9 months ago) found out his mage teacher is his biological mother, raised with consent by her old war buddies, Hol and Tanni Achleraun. He’s traveled with lords and thieves and saved the land from the machinations of the Black Spider, Nezznar. However, it seems that adventure is leading to something more grand and dangerous than he could imagine.
Alphonse Tinkerton – A fairy directly from the Feywild, fueled by magical rage. He seems to have made some kind of deal with Anduviel, a friend and former travel mate of Trowa, and has sworn to protect the young wizard on his journey. However, his history in the Feywild has given him strange ideas and assumptions of how everyone lives, sometimes to the detriment of others.
Bohdan Lesky – An herbalist who was out gathering ingredients for their aunt when a magical explosion in the mountains knocked them out of sync with reality. With their new abilities, they can separate and form an echo that operates on their behalf and phase through portions of reality. Despite these rad abilities, they seek a way to fix themselves, and started by tracking down the one person they knew was there, a young wizard named Trowa. They insist on sticking with the party until they’re fixed, and if they happen to save the world along the way, eh, so be it.
Aroboe Grymdottir – The daughter of the legendary hero and Frost Giant, Harshnag the Grim. She joined the party to guide them to a Giant temple dedicated to Annam the All-Father, and continues to help our heroes to find a way to stop the rampage of the Giants. She’s very protective of her father and his legacy, and tends to fly off the handle if anyone insults him. Despite their lineage, Harshnag and Aroboe particularly don’t like other Frost Giants.
3rd day of Marpenoth, 1490 DR: When we last left off, the Happy Childhood Bunch were in the Icewind Dale, trying to figure out how to get the looming Frost Giant army to not kill everyone in the Ten Towns, and get the magical conch shell that their leader, Jarl Storvald, possesses.
The party had come up with a plan to smuggle Artus Cimber, a hero from legend somehow still alive and in possession of the Ring of Winter, out of Bryn Shander. This was to keep the frost giant army that would soon march on the city from acquiring it.
Once he is safely away, they planned to use the knowledge of his location to barter with the Frost Giants and try to get them to leave the Ten Towns alone. However, they couldn’t initially decide where to send him. If he goes to Mirabar, Faint Drop (a member of the Harpers who no one trusts for some reason) seems like she would find out he was there and not be warm to the idea of letting him leave. Some place far away like Loudwater might put some good distance between them, but they don’t know that city well enough.
In the end, they chose Neverwinter. The city is locked down and Artus is familiar enough with the area. Additionally, Trowa’s parents can keep an eye on him without the party worrying about Faint Drop.
They track down Rin Erro (an assistant to the speaker of Bryn Shander) for the whereabouts of Ghesh so they can use the teleportation circle. She seems annoyed, but she tells them he would be at home, waiting on a “delivery”. Back at the run-down shop he calls home, it takes little convincing to get the dragonborn to agree to send Artus Cimber away. Once they do, however, they are immediately contacted by Faint Drop who questions what powerful thing was sent through the portal system. They reply with the bare minimum to keep Faint Drop out of the loop, and continue with their plans.
With Artus Cimber out of the city, the party sought out Gunter Brixton, captain of the guard. With his help, they secured some more axebeaks to rent and ride out to find the Frost Giant Army. They ride through the snow, and arrive on the outskirts from where the Frost Giants have set up their massive camp. While deciding what to do, they are caught by a Giant name Luku. He tries to get information out of them, but they insist on speaking with the Jarl directly. Luku then gives them a new choice: They can talk to the Jarl directly, but only if it’s Trowa by himself.
They are now stuck with a choice to send the young mage on his own into a den of villains, or try to find another way to get the conch from the Jarl.
