Recap of the last few sessions:
The Squishies have been through a lot on their adventure. While doing their best to stop the machinations of the devil Strahd, they’ve found unlikely allies. The Keepers of the Feather, a family of Were-Ravens have lent their hand to the group with the plan to unseat Strahd of his power. Esmeralda, a hunter who seeks her missing mentor Van Richten and who has become the object of Qwib Qwib’s affections. Rictavio, the owner of a traveling circus troupe and suspected false identity of the hunter Van Richten. His troupe of performers and suspected hunters of whom, Findex the Dragonborn strongman has become a lover of Altheon. The blacksmith Annura Silverstone, a dwarven woman who seems to think of Rasper as a friend. And many others who they’ve met along the way. Less friendly, though still somewhat allied is Zuleika, the leader of a pack of werewolves who broke off from a bigger pack that serves under Strahd. Despite killing most of her pack, the blood thirsty Zuleika has agreed to help the party in exchange for killing the leader of the werewolf pack, and the man who tattled to Strahd to get her mate imprisoned, Kiril.
Before leaving the village of Villaki on this mission, the party met with some of their new friends in different circumstances. While Rasper asked Annura for help creating silver weapons, Altheon spent some time with Findex. Qwib Qwib tried to stall the plans of Rictavio’s faux circus/festival by getting woodland creatures to sabotage a structure they were building, while Xylil tried to get Azalea to embrace a darker purpose.
All told, the party finally headed out to the werewolf den. They cut through the werewolves as quietly as possible. Zuleika takes her vengeance out on Kiril’s mate, and nearly kills a young, recently turned werewolf cub. However, Xylil insists that his god will be able to remove this curse and save the child. Zuleika begrudgingly agrees. Qwib Qwib couldn’t help but notice in the fight how Esmeralda was quick to jump to her side and defend her from the enemies.
In the aftermath, Altheon is sent to try and guide the children back to the village, while the rest of the party deal with the remaining werewolves.
After all that mess with the part of the pack that were left behind, the party waited in ambush to try and trick Kiril into thinking he lost favor with Strahd. However, unbeknownst to the party, that is exactly where the monsters had just returned from. Showing off the new power granted to him by the dark lord, Kiril transformed into an even more monstrous version of his hybrid werewolf form. With Zuleika bragging about killing his mate, his bloodlust seems focused on one of the few allies the Squishies still have. And it likely won’t end there.
